Being in an intimate relationship can be unsettling and it often stirs up old wounds that we carry. Yet relationships can also be filled with joy, adventure and deep connection. The good news is that you get to make the rules! Whether you are looking for stronger connection with your partner, a way to better communicate without arguing, or navigating a way to amicably separate, my role as a couples counselor is to cultivate an environment where all feel welcomed to express their deepest truth.

My strengths include helping you emotionally attune to your partner while also challenging each of you to take personal responsibility in your relationship. As a practitioner of Marshall Rosenberg’s Nonviolent Communication Skills, I provide a framework for you to practice expressing yourself honestly while listening empathetically during and outside our sessions together. Feel free to reach out to me if you are considering starting couples therapy.

Frequently asked questions about Couples Therapy in Fort Collins

  • Absolutely not. In fact, the idea of taking sides is not really in my vocabulary as a couples therapist. My alliance is with your relationship–not with either one of you. I am not even here to convince the relationship to survive. My role is more as a mirror that helps you see your relationship more clearly and with greater compassion and curiosity. From there it is up to you.

  • Of course! I am well aware of the many different forms relationships can take. I believe that we get to make the rules in all of our relationships and society be damned.

  • Absolutely! I welcome folks of all genders, shapes, sizes and identities in my practice. Although I identify as a straight white male, I find joy in connecting with all types of humans. Oftentimes I work with clients who don’t share my identities and have found that dynamic to provide unique opportunities for healing.
